Stefanos Ntouskos

Stefanos Ntouskos was born on March 29, 1997, in Ioannina, Greece. He began his rowing career at the age of 15, joining the Ioannina Nautical Club. His initial years in the sport were marked by consistent development and participation in various competitions, laying the groundwork for his future achievements. Ntouskos demonstrated early promise, leading to his first Olympic appearance at a young age.

Ntouskos made his Olympic debut at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games, where he competed in the men’s lightweight coxless four event, finishing in sixth place. Following this, in the same year, he earned a silver medal at the World Championship U23 in Rotterdam, Netherlands, in the men’s pair without coxswain alongside Giannis Petrou. His career progression continued with notable performances, including a gold medal at the 2018 European Championship U23 in Brest, Belarus, in the men’s double sculls with Christos Stergiakas. In the same year, he secured another gold medal at the Mediterranean Games in Tarragona, Spain, also in the men’s double sculls with Christos Stergiakas. In 2019, Ntouskos won a silver medal at the Sarasota U23 World Championship in the single sculls discipline.

The pinnacle of his career to date occurred at the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics (held in 2021), where he achieved a gold medal in the men’s single sculls, setting a record time of 6:40.45. This achievement marked him as an Olympic champion. Subsequently, in 2022, he earned a silver medal at the European Rowing Championships in Oberschleißheim and followed this with another silver medal at the 2023 European Championships in Bled, Slovenia. Ntouskos was also selected as the first torch-bearer for the relay from Olympia to Paris for the 2024 Summer Olympic Games, recognizing his status in Greek sports.
