About

Kevin Alexander Stephens, known professionally as Stevo the Madman, was born on July 28, 1984, in Enfield, England. His early career was in professional football, playing as a defender. He began in the youth system at Queens Park Rangers. Stephens later played for various clubs, including Leyton Orient in the English Football League, making his first league appearance in November 2002. His time in football included stints with Billericay Town, Hornchurch, Redbridge, Enfield Town, Chelmsford City, Newport County, and Boreham Wood. A notable event in his football career occurred in 2009 when he refused to continue playing for Newport County after witnessing racist abuse from fans towards an opposition striker.

Following his football career, Stephens embarked on a new path as an internet personality. He gained significant attention through humorous and relatable content on platforms such as Snapchat, Instagram, and Facebook, where he documented his daily life. His online persona, “StevoTheMadMan,” emerged while he worked as a recovery driver, continuously filming his experiences as a ‘van man.’ This venture into digital content creation led to widespread recognition and a substantial online following, establishing him as a prominent social media figure.

Stevo the Madman’s media career expanded beyond social media to include television appearances and brand collaborations. Between 2016 and 2020, he regularly hosted “Take a Bow” for JD Sports, a YouTube series covering football news. He also participated in television shows like “Celebrity Coach Trip” in 2019, where he placed third, and the “Come Dine with Me” Christmas special in the same year. Stephens appeared on “The Big Narstie Show” multiple times between 2018 and 2020 and covered the Super Bowl for BBC Sport in 2020. In 2021, he was a featured artist on the song “Come On England” by Plain Old Kev, which peaked at #78 on the British iTunes Chart. In 2022, he joined the cast of E4’s “Celebrity Cooking School.” Prior to his social media fame, in the early 2000s, Stephens also worked as a record producer under the name Stevo, affiliated with the grime production crew The Beatcamp.
