Sydney Ann Poniewaz

Sydney Ann Poniewaz was born on April 12, 1995, in Wisconsin, USA. She embarked on her voice acting career nearly ten years ago, initially lending her voice to online animations. Her early work included contributions to projects such as “Minecraft Diaries” in 2015, where she voiced Cathy in 2017. She further expanded her portfolio with roles in video games, notably as Priya in “Learn Japanese to Survive! Kanji Combat” in 2018. These early experiences laid the foundation for her later career in both voice acting and online content creation.

Poniewaz has established a significant online presence, particularly through her YouTube channel, Sydsnap, where she shares insights into anime, manga, and Japanese culture, often focusing on its more unconventional aspects. In November 2019, she moved to northwestern Tokyo, Japan, to collaborate with GeeXPlus as an influencer, joining other prominent anime YouTubers like Garnt Maneetapho, whom she married on June 5, 2022. This move marked a turning point in her career, deepening her engagement with Japanese culture and expanding her content creation.

Her voice acting career continued to progress with roles in various productions. In 2021, she voiced Claine de Lune in the video game “Sierra Ops.” More recently, in 2023, she contributed to “My Love Story with Yamada-kun at Lv999” in multiple roles, including the Forest of Savior Event Announcer, Forest of Savior Monsters, High School Girls, and Weatherwoman. She has also been involved in several music videos and TV movies under the persona Hime Hajime, such as “Candy Pop Explosion” (2023) and “VShojo: Mythos” (2022–2023), further diversifying her artistic expressions. Her upcoming work includes voicing Luna Seren in “Astral Ascension,” scheduled for release in 2025.
