Tank Abbott is a former UFC fighter and mixed martial arts expert. He competed in a number of wrestling competitions during his career, but he was best known for his stint with the UFC, which was in its infancy when he joined. Now, long after his retirement, he is an icon of the sport and a veteran of the UFC.
Abbott was one of the toughest men to ever fight in the UFC. He was well known as a hot head and though he was nudged toward playing a tough character, he didn’t need to play a role. He was tough anyway, and in his first professional fight, he knocked out his opponent within eighteen seconds. Not many people have ever matched up to the way Abbott performed in his hayday, and he laid the foundations for the sport, making it what it is today. Between 1995 and 2003, he was the man to beat, even if his later comeback to the sport didn’t reflect his former glory.
Now, Abbott has given up fighting, but he has found other ways to use his time, including making a popular podcast, The Proving Ground with Tank Abbott. He has also written his debut novel in recent years called Bar Brawler. In addition, Abbott appeared as himself in an episode of Friends when Monica’s boyfriend decided to try out UFC for himself. Abbott knocked him out within seconds in a comedic, but impressive show of his skills.
