Timothy Mahendran is a professional English singer, dancer, and actor best known for his portrayal of the character Francois Du Bois in the West End musical & Juliet. After graduating from Mountview Academy of Dramatic Arts with a BA in Music Theatre, Mahendran joined the cast of Spring Awakening. This production was run by the same director of & Juliet, Luke Sheppard. After showcasing his fearless talent on stage during Spring Awakening, Mahendran was offered an audition for Sheppard’s next West End musical, & Juliet. The rest is history, as Mahendran finally got to make his dream come true and be part of his first West End production.
Mahendran has always had a knack for performing in front of audiences. By age 11, he had already started performing in front of crowds as a soloist at the Cheltenham Jazz festival and Art Couture Festival in Gloucestershire. Furthermore, as a youth ambassador for the National Youth Music Theatre, he gained applicable work experience through public speaking engagements on their behalf.
The hard work has paid off. Mahedran has created a respectable reputation as an actor through tireless and diligent effort over the years of working to build rapport with various big names in the theatre industry. Outside of his performances on West End, he has also performed in four productions for NYMT. His most recent performance was nominated at the Broadway World UK / West End awards in the category for Best New Regional Production and Best Revival of a Musical. Mahendran’s current goal is to keep chasing his dreams of theatre, while simultaneously working on a career as an on-screen actor.
