Trent Jordan Watt, born on October 11, 1994, in Pewaukee, Wisconsin, began his athletic career at Pewaukee High School, where he excelled in football across four different positions and was a state champion in track and field for shot put. He then attended the University of Wisconsin–Madison, initially playing tight end before transitioning to defensive end in 2015. After redshirting his freshman year and missing his sophomore year due to a knee injury, Watt emerged as a standout player in 2016, recording 11.5 sacks and earning First-team All-Big Ten and Second-team All-American honors. He majored in retailing and consumer behavior and achieved Academic All-Big Ten honors in both 2015 and 2016.
Watt was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft with the 30th overall pick. He quickly made an impact, recording two sacks and an interception in his professional debut. Over his career, he has consistently ranked among the league’s top pass rushers, earning numerous accolades. In 2021, he tied the NFL single-season sack record with 22.5 sacks and was named the NFL Defensive Player of the Year. He became the second-fastest player in NFL history to reach 100 sacks, behind Reggie White, achieving this milestone in 109 career games. Watt has been a Pro Bowl selection multiple times and has earned first-team All-Pro honors on several occasions. His consistent performance and leadership have solidified his position as a key player for the Steelers.
