The amazing and incredibly gifted Toni Duggan is a professional footballer who plays as a winger and forward for Everton Women and the England Women’s national team. She has previously played for Manchester City, and in Spain for Barcelona and Atlético Madrid. She is an ambassador for Kick It Out, football’s anti-discrimination organisation, and for the charity Saving Lives.
Born and raised in Liverpool, Duggan started playing football with boys in the under-eight team Jellytots. She joined the Everton youth side, and broke into the senior side in 2007. During her first spell at Everton she helped the club win the FA Women’c Cup in 2010, was named the FA Women’s Young Player of the Year in 2009, the England Women’s Under-23 Player of the Year in 2012, and the North West Female Player of the Year in 2013. In 2013 she signed with Manchester City and was part of the team when the club played in the Women’s Champions League for the first time. In 2017 she signed for FC Barcelona Femení. In 2019 she transferred to Atlético Madrid and helped the club win the Supercopa de España Femenina in January 2021. In July she returned to England and to her first club, Everton, signing a two-year contract. On the international stage, Duggan made her debut in 2007 as a 15-year-old when she came on as a substitute in an England U-17’s match. On her 18th birthday she scored two goals in England’s 2009 UEFA Women’s U-19 Championship final victory. She made her senior debut in 2012, and was part of the squad that won a Bronze medal at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2015.
