Tony Todd is an American actor most famous for his performance as Candyman in the iconic Candyman horror film franchise. A charismatic figure standing at 6’ 5” tall, Todd’s glittering career has seen him appear in more than 100 films and he has starred opposite some of the biggest names of Hollywood. His impressive movie credits include The Rock, The Crow, Lean on me, Night of the Living Dead, Platoon and Final Destination. Todd has also guest-starred in many critically-acclaimed television series, including NYPD Blue, Boston Public, Xena: Warrior Princess, Law & Order, CSI: Miami, Star Trek, Smallville and The X-Files.
Hailing from Washington, D.C., Todd received a scholarship to train at the elite Eugene O’Neill National Theatre Institute, where he appeared in numerous experimental and classical plays. He has continued to appear in theatre alongside his remarkable film and television career, most notably originating the title role in August Wilson’s King Hedley II and a leading part in The Captain’s Tiger at La Jolla which earned Todd a prestigious Helen Hayes nomination. His other theatre credits include Othello, Les Blancs, Dark Paradies, Zooman and the Sign and Aida on Broadway.
At the start of the new decade Todd has six movies in post-production due for release in 2020, including the eagerly anticipated direct sequel to the 1992 Candyman movie where he will reprise his role from the original film.
