Tore André Flo is a Norwegian former professional footballer, who played as a striker for Norway. During his professional career, he was capped 76 times, scored 23 goals for his country and represented them in two major cups, the 1998 FIFA World Cup and the UEFA Euro 2000. He currently coaches for the Chelsea football team.
Flo is famed for scoring Norway’s initial goal in their 2-1 victory against Brazil, seeing them through to the second round of the 1998. Flo has played professionally for several teams, perhaps most notably Chelsea, Rangers, Sunderland, Siena and Leeds United. Flo was sold to Chelsea in 1997 and scored 15 goals for the Premier League team in his debut season, including a hat-trick. During his time with the club, Chelsea finished fourth in the FA Premier League, won the Cup Winners’ Cup and won the League Cup. Flo scored an impressive 19 goals in their following season and was hailed as their top scorer. Throughout his time with the club, he made 163 appearances and scored 50 goals.
In 2000, his talents were recognised by Rangers and he was sold to the club for £12 million, making him the most valuable Norwegian player in history. During his second season with Rangers, he scored 22 goals in 42 games. Since retiring, Flo has joined the coaching team at Chelsea football club and has also established the Tore André Flo Academy, alongside Sean Faulkner.
