Tyler Mahoney

Tyler Mahoney is a professional gold prospector and dealer from Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. She is a fourth-generation gold miner, continuing a family legacy that began with her great-uncle and was carried on by her great-grandfather, grandmother, mother, and father. Her parents, Ted and Lucky, became full-time prospectors when Tyler was 11, moving the family to the outback and living in a caravan while establishing their operations. This upbringing instilled in Mahoney a strong work ethic and a comprehensive understanding of the gold prospecting industry, along with a comfort in taking financial risks.

Mahoney began her entrepreneurial journey at 19, starting her first business while living in Melbourne. Although this initial venture resulted in significant credit card debt, it provided her with valuable lessons in business management, outsourcing, and self-reliance during the foundational stages of a company. These early experiences shaped her approach to finance and business development. Currently, she operates a gold dealership in Kalgoorlie with two employees, in addition to her own prospecting work. Her business is bootstrapped, and she actively manages its cash flow, with a focus on reinvesting earnings to support growth. Mahoney emphasizes the importance of financial literacy, having actively educated herself on investing beyond gold.

Mahoney is the Director of The Prospectors Club (TPC), a venture she co-founded to share four generations of gold prospecting wisdom and provide access to ethically sourced Australian gold. TPC aims to bring transparency to the industry through green mining practices, fair prices for local prospectors, and high purity gold that is traceable from the outback. She has also co-founded a company in the Yukon, Canada, with business partners Neil and Victoria, expanding her reach in the gold mining sector. Mahoney’s career highlights include participating in three different television series about gold mining, further establishing her as a prominent figure in the industry. Her company is projected to achieve $1.2 million in revenue this financial year, marking a significant milestone in her decade-long entrepreneurial career.
