Ximena Lamadrid

Ximena Lamadrid was born in Cancún, Mexico, on June 5, 1996, and spent her formative years in Dubai, UAE. She later pursued higher education in the United States, earning a BA in English and American Literature and a BFA in Theatre from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, where she trained at the Atlantic Acting School and Stonestreet Screen Acting Studios. This academic background laid a strong foundation for her career in acting, writing, producing, and directing. Lamadrid has since demonstrated a commitment to both commercial and independent projects, expanding her creative endeavors beyond acting to include literary works.

Lamadrid gained significant international recognition for her lead role as Sara Guzmán in the Netflix series “¿Quién Mató a Sara?” (Who Killed Sara?), which premiered in 2021. The show achieved global success, becoming Netflix’s Most Popular Foreign-Language Show in April 2021, with an estimated 55 million viewers for its Season 2 finale. Her film credits include working with acclaimed directors such as Alejandro González Iñárritu in “Bardo (False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths)” (2022), which premiered at the Venice Film Festival, and Sofia Coppola in “On the Rocks” (2020). She also appeared in Humberto Hinojosa’s “No Abras La Puerta” (Don’t Open the Door) (2022).

Beyond her acting career, Ximena Lamadrid is an accomplished author, publishing a book of poetry titled “and then the clouds were lifted.” She also co-wrote, directed, produced, and starred in the short film “DANCE DANCE DANCE.” Her dedication to promoting emerging talent and independent film is evident through her involvement in various film festivals and platforms, including Mud & Honey’s presence on Focus Features and Jet Blue. In 2022, she was honored with the Stonestreet Granite Award by Stonestreet Studios and recognized by Variety as one of their “10 Actors to Watch.”
