MN2S has booked Berlin-based DJ and producer 8Kays a co-headline slot at Kharkhorum Festival’s fourth edition in Ulaanbaatar.
Electronic music is finding new frontiers, and Mongolia’s capital is fast becoming one of them. MN2S has booked 8Kays, the Berlin-based DJ and producer known for her melodic techno sets, a co-headline slot at Kharkhorum Festival 2026, one of Central Asia’s most ambitious electronic music and visual art events.
The booking sees 8Kays perform a set of up to 120 minutes on 22 August at the National Sports Stadium in Ulaanbaatar. Kicking off at 19:00, the performance forms part of a two-day programme expected to draw around 12,500 attendees. MN2S booked the engagement on behalf of Steppe Amusement LLC, the Mongolian event promoter behind the festival.
A festival built on spectacle
Kharkhorum has grown quickly since launching in 2022 under the name “Oilan.” Each edition carries its own theme, and 2026’s installment, subtitled “Chapter IV: Time,” promises to be the biggest yet. The festival takes its name from Karakorum, the ancient capital of the Mongol Empire, and pairs world-class electronic talent with an immersive, large-scale visual art production.
Previous editions set a high bar. The 2023 “Spirit” chapter brought German techno heavyweights Len Faki, Nastia, Kollektiv Turmstrasse and Hosh to Ulaanbaatar, alongside a 360-degree visual installation spanning 2,000 square metres of screens. This year’s line-up raises the stakes again. Alongside 8Kays, Kharkhorum has also booked Boyzone’s Ronan Keating for his first-ever performance in Mongolia, a booking that signals just how far the festival’s ambitions now reach beyond the electronic scene.
The choice of venue matters, too. The National Sports Stadium is Mongolia’s most symbolically significant arena, hosting the country’s national Naadam festival every July. Staging a major electronic music event there places Kharkhorum firmly at the centre of Mongolia’s cultural calendar, rather than on its fringes.
Who is 8Kays
8Kays is the project of Ukrainian-born producer and DJ Iryna Shvydka, now based in Berlin. Her sound moves between melodic house, melodic techno and progressive house, described in her own words as “music without borders.” That description fits her catalogue well. She has released music through some of the genre’s most respected labels, including Watergate Records, John Digweed’s Bedrock, and Amsterdam’s DGTL. However, it is her relationship with Afterlife, the Tale Of Us-founded label at the heart of contemporary melodic techno, that has done the most to elevate her global profile. She also has upcoming releases lined up on Interstellar Recordings, the melodic offshoot of Insomniac Records, and on Armada Music, further cementing her position as an artist on the rise rather than one who has already peaked.

Melodic techno has become one of the defining sounds of the current festival circuit, and Kharkhorum’s programming leans directly into that momentum. Booking 8Kays gives the festival an artist whose catalogue sits comfortably alongside Afterlife’s biggest names, without needing the biggest name on the bill to draw a crowd. For a festival still building its international reputation, that kind of credibility matters more than raw star power.
