French house star Shiba San has joined the line-up for Mixmag Live’s party with Hannah Wants at The Rainbow Venues in Birmingham on September 12. Click here for ticket details.
He is currently on tour in North America, where he has played a string of dates with Claude VonStroke and his Dirtybird BBQ parties, continuing his relationship with the label that began with last year’s breakthrough hit ‘Okay’. His tour has also taken in the Mad Decent Block Party, HARD Summer, Electric Island Civic Holiday and Summer Set Music Festival, with remaining dates at Verboten in New York and Exchange in Los Angeles.
“Chicago, San Francisco, Detroit, New York, all these cities where House Music started have been incredible experiences for me” he said of his experiences in the US when speaking to The Music Ninja last year. “One can feel that people in these cities have a special connection with the house culture. But generally speaking anywhere I go people are very receptive to what I’m doing, people know what I’m doing because of my SoundCloud where my sets are available.”
September will also see him play Tomorrowland and The Warehouse Project’s opening night in Manchester on the same day (Sept 26).
His last single ‘Burn Like Fire’ hit #13 on Beatport’s House Chart (#47 overall), while his unofficial bootleg of Drake’s ‘Started From The Bottom’ has amassed over 300,000 plays across YouTube and SoundCloud to date. His remix of Denney’s ‘Low Frequency’ for Ministry of Sound has also proved a big hit, but is still awaiting a full release.
