The grime kingpin and Glastonbury headliner has sampled the iconic children’s television show’s theme tune.
Stormzy released Heavy Is The Head, his latest full-length project, on December 13th. The track “Superheroes”, a song that celebrates the black youth of Britain, features a sample from the Tracy Beaker theme tune which has provoked a huge response across social media. The inclusion of the sample on a track from this BRIT Award-winning artist proves that Tracy Beaker (and by extension, Dani Harmer) remains as relevant as ever in 2019.
Dani Harmer rose to prominence as the star of the hugely popular CBBC show The Story of Tracy Beaker. Playing the lead role in one of the decade’s most popular children’s TV series, she became a face and a character known to almost every British citizen of a certain age. Dani Harmer was a regular fixture on British screens for several years, appearing in five consecutive series of the original programme, along with spin-off shows Tracy Beaker Returns and The Tracy Beaker Survival Files. She now performs on stage and makes appearances at sold-out events up and down the country.
