Dani Harmer

Danielle Jane Harmer was born on February 8, 1989, in Bracknell, Berkshire, England. Her career in entertainment began at a young age, with her stage debut at six in the West End musical “The Who’s Tommy.” At seven, she earned a scholarship to Redroofs Theatre School, laying the foundation for her acting journey. Her significant break came with the title role in CBBC’s dramedy series “The Story of Tracy Beaker,” which ran from 2002 to 2006. This role, along with the accompanying feature-length film “Tracy Beaker’s Movie of Me,” established her as a prominent figure in children’s television and garnered her a BAFTA nomination.

Harmer’s career progression saw her take on diverse roles beyond Tracy Beaker. She starred in the BBC One comedy series “After You’ve Gone” (2007–2008) and her own CBBC sitcom “Dani’s House” (2008–2012), which received multiple BAFTA Kids awards and nominations. This was followed by its spin-off, “Dani’s Castle” (2013–2014). In 2012, she further expanded her public profile by competing in the tenth series of “Strictly Come Dancing,” where she reached the final and finished in fourth place. She has also maintained a strong presence in theatre, performing in numerous pantomimes and stage productions across the UK.

More recently, Harmer reprised her iconic role as Tracy Beaker in “Tracy Beaker Returns” (2010–2012), “My Mum Tracy Beaker” (2021), and “The Beaker Girls” (2021–2023), demonstrating the enduring popularity of her most famous character. She has also ventured into producing, serving as an associate producer for “Dani’s Castle” (2013–2014), and directing an episode of “The Dumping Ground” in 2025. Additionally, Harmer founded The Dani Harmer Academy, a performing arts school in Berkshire, offering drama, dance, and singing lessons to children and young people. Her continued engagement across various platforms showcases her commitment to entertainment and nurturing new talent.
