SAMLOW builds momentum with new single Red Riot | MN2S

The rising alt-rock artist returns with a red-hot new release.

London-based artist MN2S Label Services client SAMLOW has released his second single, ‘Red Riot’, following a strong debut earlier this year. The project of songwriter and bassist Sam Gino, SAMLOW launched with ‘Magazine’, a track that reached a combined audience of over 600,000, clocked more than 26,000 Spotify streams in its first weeks, earned support from Duran Duran and Anna Ross, and landed him a feature spot on Italy’s RAI 3 as a breakthrough artist.

‘Red Riot’ was recorded at Cube Recording Studios in Cornwall, produced by Gareth Young (The xx, Kasabian’s Tom Meighan) and co-written with Bnann Watts of Infadels. Built around a Drop D low-frequency motif he describes as a “volcanic warning signal”, the track sits on a tension between its bass-heavy foundation and more open, anthemic choruses. Lyrically it takes aim at social inertia and systemic imbalance, with a memorable music video directed by Jay Hillyer.

SAMLOW 1

Originally from the Valle d’Aosta region of the Italian Alps, Sam Gino studied at the Institute of Music in Aosta before relocating to Milan, then Rome, and eventually London. For the past four years he has toured as a bassist with Absolute Bowie, completing three Australian tours and multiple runs across Europe and the UK. SAMLOW is his return to songwriting and composition as a primary focus. He plays Fulham Jazz on 21st June and has two further singles scheduled for later this year.
