Label Spotlight: Langhewood Records | MN2S

MN2S Label Services are thrilled to welcome Langhewood Records to the fold. Langhewood Records is a UK-based label run by Italian DJ and producer Francesco Dogliani. We spoke with the team to find out more about their musical background and the label’s journey so far.

How long has your label been in operation?

Langhewood records was founded in spring 2021, based in London by Francesco Dogliani.

What inspired you to set up the label in the first place?

After collaborations with Alchemy (by Mauro Picotto) and Sony Italy, Francesco Dogliani (Ayko) felt the need to create his own label to have full power of movement and creativity.
Since the start his desire has been to involve other artists with the aim of making them known and pushing them to a bigger platform.

How would you describe your musical philosophy and creative vision?

Inspired by his musical tastes (80s and 90s music) Francesco tried to re-propose these influences in a modern key, with the aim of making the most out of his creativity and at the same time also involving other producers with the same musical taste.

Love and passion are the right ingredients to do this job

Tell us about your first release – what was special about that one?

Ayko’s first and most significant release to date is undoubtedly Life (2021), produced in London and released with several versions and remixes. It represents the essence of my philosophy in music, because it starts from the importance of the lyrics and then it expands into the music that reflects that. This doesn’t happen often with electronic music.  Ayko has always liked to combine full lyrics with electronic sounds and this is certainly the most difficult challenge, because normally dance music puts more emphasis on the music and beats alone.
Ayko is always looking for an original lyric with meaning, and afterwards he produces the music around that. This is also what he looks for in the music from external artists that he chooses to release in the Langhewood imprint.

What’s been the highlight of your journey so far as a label head?

Although we are a young and small reality, from the beginning we have succeeded in building our own well-defined identity, trying to organically grow step by step. This has allowed us to gain credibility and interest. We receive promos from producers who want to work with us, and this pushes us to continue in this direction. Having had the opportunity to publish a remix of Leandro from Silvia was a great satisfaction as he is a world renowned producer and our audience has really appreciated that remix.

What advice would you give to anyone thinking of setting up their own imprint?

Definitely always doing what you like, without falling into the mistakes of being influenced too much by what the market requires, so the secret is to keep your own style and taste.
After many productions I remain tied to all of them, because I feel them 100% mine and consequently I continue to like them even if the music tastes always change and evolve.

What lies ahead for your label in 2023 and beyond?

To improve the quality of the productions and hoping to reach an even bigger audience, with the goal of finding and collaborating with good and competent people from all over the world.
