Adrian Niculescu is the creative force behind DJ Agape Records, a label officially launched in 2020 but fully active since 2023.
Operating out of the UAE, Niculescu balances multiple projects—from club-ready sets as Adrian Taylor to bespoke productions with The GlobTrotters. His label spans EDM, drum & bass, R&B, and hip-hop, focusing on music with emotional weight and positive energy. A former Romanian hip-hop radio DJ and music journalist, Adrian’s approach is grounded in long-term vision and a steadfast commitment to authentic, genre-blurring music.
Please give us a brief overview of yourself and your achievements.
Well, I believe that music flows through my veins. It is something I could do for 24 hours, without any pay or interest, just from pure passion. My aim is to create music that can lift the state of the listeners and the ones attending my gigs. It is for them to feel that they can follow their dreams and be inspired.
Can you share a bit about your background in music and what led you to founding your own label?
I am Adrian Niculescu, UAE-based, the music producer behind Adrian Taylor, The GlobTrotters, and the label DJ Agape Records. Starting as a radio DJ, I became one of the first promoters of hip-hop in Romania at Uniplus Radio. I am a proud member of the MTV generation, and have written countless articles about music and musicians, mostly in Romanian, editing a magazine in my native country, Remix, and initially was not even thinking that I could be something more than a DJ playing other people’s music.
I had an aha-moment, so I founded The GlobTrotters in 2013 and started to produce for others first before starting my catalogue in 2023 along with the creation of Adrian Taylor. I created DJ Agape in 2020 but only activated it in 2023 as the label around my music productions. Agape (Ancient Greek ἀγάπη, agapē) is a Greco-Christian term referring to love, “the highest form of love, charity” and “the love of God for man and of man for God.” DJ Agape represents our endless love for the beautiful art of DJ-ing!
What do you look for when signing new artists or releasing new music?
While initially the label was created around my productions, when looking to create new music, start a cooperation, and also look for new artists, I am looking first at positive music, positive people :), and also music that can create a positive — peak-state — emotion. We live in the best era for humanity, but there are all sorts of things happening around us, so the music DJ Agape releases aims to create a positive dent in the world, communicated through EDM, dance music, R&B, pop, drum & bass, and hip-hop.
Tell us about your first release — what was special about that one?
My first release as a music producer is Take Me To The Dance, which is an energetic pop track mixing love and nostalgia in one go. It makes you feel the love butterflies, relive the memories, and embrace the nostalgia of young love. Take Me To The Dance by Adrian Taylor is a festival-ready pop anthem that captures the magic of high-school romance, road trips, and unforgettable nights. Lyrics teaser: “School’s out, let me drive you home, I never liked walking alone…”
Could you sum up your label’s philosophy and creative vision?
DJ Agape’s music aims to create a positive dent in the world communicated through EDM, dance music, R&B, pop, drum & bass, and hip-hop.
What advice would you give to anyone thinking of setting up their own imprint?
To start doing and prepare for a marathon in getting seen, discovered, and never giving up. Today we have inexpensive tools, software, devices, and instruments that lower the entry barrier for a musical career. The rest is vision, hard work, and not looking for the easiest route. While I believe AI can help burst creativity so you don’t start from a blank canvas, the real musicians and producers have something unique that emanates from the soul, which creates masterpieces that pass the test of time.

What are some upcoming projects or releases you’re excited about?
I am about to release several singles, one EP, and an album for The GlobTrotters, one EP and an album for Adrian Taylor — stuff I have worked on over the last 6 to 12 months. I can only reveal Adrian Taylor’s album proposed title 50 Shades of Adrian, which reflects my versatility. At the end of the day, I create music from the soul, not following one genre but following the feelings that the music generates.
What have you enjoyed about working with MN2S?
What I liked was that we clicked very fast. It is very easy to get started and to be surrounded by professionals that push you to excel and reach new milestones.
