Groove People Records are a relatively new label, having put out their first release in May 2021. However, in just a few short months they’ve made a serious impact on the house music scene, and their latest release from Foo Funkers has been spotlighted by Beatport on the Jackin House page. We caught up with label head Gianni to hear about their story so far.
How long has your label been in operation?
Our first track was released on May 3, 2021.
What inspired you to set up the label in the first place?
Electronic music has been an important part of our lives for over 20 years. We have been DJ’ing since the late 90’s and producing tracks for a few years now. The creation of this label is a new step in our musical journey.
How would you describe your musical philosophy and creative vision?
The music must be a source of inspiration and also a poetry which transports us in an infinite musical dream.
Tell us about your first release – what was special about that one?
The first release was really important because it marked the beginning of a new step in our journey. We were very lucky to have Angelo Ferreri on board, which undoubtedly signed the launch of our label. “I Don’t” continues to get a lot of attention almost a year after its release. Angelo Ferreri is an important and unavoidable figure in the world of House Music and it was an honor and a privilege to be able to match his name to our label.
What’s been the highlight of your journey so far as a label?
Certainly the success of “I Don’t” by Angelo Ferreri on the various music platforms and also the possibility of having a Radio Show on Pure Ibiza Radio.
What advice would you give to anyone thinking of setting up their own imprint?
I think it would be disingenuous to give advice when we are just starting out in the world of music distribution. However, an honest sentence would be to say that you should not give up your dreams and put all your energy, joy and motivation in this wonderful project.
What lies ahead for your label in 2022 and beyond?
Our objective is always to put forward the quality of confirmed artists and also the one of newcomer. It is our trademark and we want to continue to offer quality music.
