Label Spotlight: Rebel Eye | MN2S

For over a decade, RHENALT has been quietly shaping his own lane in house music’s vast landscape.

With a sound rooted in funk, rare grooves, and Haitian rhythm, the Rebel Eye founder brings deep intention to every release. His latest track The Abyss plunges listeners into a hypnotic, introspective journey: part club experience, part spiritual exploration. More than just a label, Rebel Eye is a movement shaped by authenticity, legacy, and raw creative energy. In this Q&A, RHENALT shares the story behind his first release, his vision for the label, and how MN2S is helping guide its next chapter.

How did you get into music originally?

My journey into music began in 2001, when I attended the I.A.R Institute of Audio Recording. During that time, I gained valuable experience through internships at Unique Studios and 626 Studios. Connecting with many music producers during this period was a key influence, ultimately inspiring my path. My foundational musical influences stemmed from early hip hop, funk, rare grooves, rock, and R&B, which ultimately drew me into the world of house music. Raised in a Caribbean home, the sounds of Haitian music were also a profound and integral part of my developing musical identity.

How long has your label been in operation?

More than 10 years.

Tell us about your first release – what was special about that one?

In 2008, I made my official debut on DJ Pierre’s Afro Acid label with The Rebel Eye E.P. At that time, I was known as DJ RHENALT, a name I’ve since shortened to RHENALT. This EP was a two-track offering, with each track receiving multiple remixes. Golden Face, the first track, showcased a distinct techno sound and included remixes from Deep Factor, Craig Mitchell, Dante Davinci, and Afro Acid’s own A&R, DJ Mtraxx. The second track, Dirty Girl, presented a funky electro vibe, boosted by an “ultra-dirty” remix by Kid Massive. Notably, my record label now bears the name of this very first release.

Tell us about the latest record you’ve released.

My latest offering, The Abyss, is an ultra-deep tech house gem, marking a new stylistic challenge for me. This record is crafted to resonate with your subconscious mind, inviting a dance experience coupled with higher states of consciousness.

Could you sum up your label’s philosophy and creative vision?

As a devoted follower of House music and a leading DJ/Producer, I proudly steer the ship of Rebel Eye—my record label and a far-reaching movement dedicated to advancing the music I know and love so dearly. The core philosophy of Rebel Eye is simple: it’s about capturing the true essence and atmosphere of House music and its surrounding world on a deep, personal level. We focus on more than just releases; the Rebel Eye roster is a collection of unique and rebellious talents who naturally defy expectations. I encourage this mindset, pushing our artists to explore the depths of music and to create only what comes naturally to them. Nothing is ever forced, which makes Rebel Eye one of the most organic and genuine imprints out there. With affiliations to icons like DJ Pierre and Todd Terry, both I and the brand have clearly established ourselves among like-minded artists who also feel the vibe of House music on a profound level.

What advice would you give to anyone thinking of setting up their own imprint?

My key advice is to cultivate a genuine love for the music you intend to release. Embracing the lifestyle of a music artist wholeheartedly is essential; diving in headfirst is the only true path. Take the time to assemble a team of like-minded individuals. Above all, music must be your utmost priority; the more organic your approach, the greater your success.

What are your plans for the rest of the year and beyond?

My future plans include hosting release parties for my records, aiming to establish my imprint as a recognized force throughout the dance music world. Integrating my catalog into television and film presents an exciting new avenue for both myself and the Rebel Eye crew. Ultimately, I aspire to release records that embody the golden era of house music – a throwback label harkening back to a time when the entire genre was simply known as House.

What have you enjoyed about working with MN2S?

I’m new to the company. I’m hearing lots of good things about MN2S. I’m sure MN2S will help Rebel Eye go to newer heights in the dance music industry!
