The MN2S Music Business Award recognises one outstanding graduating student at the London College of Contemporary Music, offering direct mentorship and a behind-the-scenes look at one of the UK’s leading talent and entertainment agencies.
MN2S is proud to announce the launch of the MN2S Music Business Award, a new accolade presented in partnership with the London College of Contemporary Music (LCCM) to celebrate the next generation of music industry talent. The inaugural award has been won by Jacob Gaskell, who was selected by LCCM’s academic team as the standout music business graduate of 2026.
The award provides one outstanding music business student with direct, ongoing mentorship from the MN2S team, along with organised visits to the company’s offices at the Ministry of Sound — offering a first-hand look at the inner workings of a top talent and entertainment agency.
The MN2S Music Business Award builds on a growing relationship between MN2S and LCCM. In March 2025, three MN2S team members — Megan Blythin, Tessa Harrison, and Chris James — delivered an exclusive lecture at LCCM titled Building Your Label and Your Brand, covering everything from digital distribution and branding to social media strategy and PR. The new award takes that commitment a step further, giving graduates a tangible bridge between education and the industry.
Q&A WITH JACOB GASKELL
How does it feel to be the first ever recipient of the MN2S Music Business Award?
It’s a huge honour, and something I’m really proud of. Being the first recipient makes it even more meaningful, especially at this stage in my career.
What area of the music business are you most passionate about, and what drew you to it?
To my core, I’m an artist myself, currently working on two EPs that I’ll be releasing this summer with an indie label. That said, while studying at LCCM, I developed a strong interest in the business side of artist development and project management. Being on both sides has given me a deeper understanding of what artists need and how to support and build their careers effectively.
Is there a particular moment from your time at LCCM that shaped your ambitions or perspective on the industry?
My time at LCCM really reinforced the importance of applying theory to real-world situations. While studying, I also started working in the industry as a project manager for a start-up indie label. Being able to relate what I was learning directly to managing campaigns and artists gave me a much clearer understanding of how the industry operates, and where I want to position myself within it.
What are your plans now that you’ve graduated, and where do you see yourself heading?
The label I work for is continuing to grow. Over the last six months, we have signed six new artists — all at various stages of their careers, some just starting out and some already established. I want to keep developing my skills in managing artist campaigns at a higher level, taking on more responsibility and larger-scale projects.
What does the mentorship and office visit opportunity with the MN2S team mean to you at this stage in your career?
At this stage, it’s incredibly valuable. I’m already working hands-on in the industry, so the opportunity to gain insight from an established company like MN2S feels especially relevant. It’s a chance to learn how experienced teams operate at a higher level, and understand how I can continue progressing.
“Winning the MN2S Music Business Award means a lot to me, especially as I start my career in such a fast-moving and competitive industry. It’s really encouraging to have my work recognised in this way (and definitely a nice confidence boost early on). I’m excited to learn from the MN2S team, gain insight into how a leading agency operates, and make the most of the opportunities ahead!” — Jacob Gaskell
