The reggaeton king makes history with his third full-length release of the year.
Bad Bunny’s El Último Tour del Mundo is the No. 1 album in America this week, meaning that for the first time in the Billboard album chart’s 62-year history, the No 1 record is an entirely Spanish-language album. This is a historic moment for Latin music. El Último Tour del Mundo debuted with 116,000 copies sold. Four all-Spanish-language albums that have previously debuted in the Top 5 but didn’t reach No. 1 include Bad Bunny’s YHLQMDLG, Mana’s Amar es Combatir, and Shakira’s Fijación Oral: Vol. 1.
El Último Tour del Mundo follows on from the release of May’s Las Que No Iban a Salir and March’s YHLQMDLG. A global success, the latter hit No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and became the highest-charting Spanish-language album ever to be released, until El Último Tour del Mundo hit No. 1. Continuing a meteoric rise raised the profile of reggaeton all over the world, Bad Bunny is swiftly becoming one of the world’s most successful Latin artists.
