Reggae artist Sizzla has joined DJ Khaled on the opening track of his latest album, Father of Asahd.
Sizzla’s vocal contribution to DJ Khaled’s latest single add a retro Jamaican vibe to this summer hit. With features from Mavado, 070 Shake, and Buju Banton, this song is an uplifting anthem that describes how one can stay positive through challenging times. The island-inspired track samples Ms. Lauyrn Hill’s ‘To Zion’, adding to the religious themes. This 90’s sample is just one of many DJ Khaled uses on his latest record.
The Kingston native, Sizzla, is a devote supporter of the Rastafari movement which is evident in his performance in the ‘Holy Mountain’ music video. The music video has gained 6.2 million views on YouTube since its release on May 17, 2019. This recent collaboration adds DJ Khaled to a list of many artists including Rick Ross, Rihanna, and Akon who have worked with Sizzla. Recognized as dancehall royalty, Sizzla’s own successes include 21 appearances in the Billboard Album charts. In 1998, he was nominated for Best International Reggae Artist of the Year at the MOBO Awards.
