Veteran hip-hop party-starter Fat Joe hooked up with Latin trap king Anuel AA and the inimitable Cardi B for his new song.
Following the release of “Pullin'” with Dr. Dre and Lil Wayne earlier this summer, Fat Joe has dropped a new track in advance of his forthcoming album release, Family Ties, later this year.
Linking up with Puerto Rican rapper Anuel AA and recent MTV VMA winner Cardi B, Fat Joe has released a typically celebratory summer anthem that’s sending the season out with a bang. Fat Joe’s latest album release was 2017’s Plata O Plomo, with Remy Ma.
“Yes” is just one more example of mainstream American hip-hop artists capitalising on the recent boom in reggaeton and Latin trap, as rappers continue to fuse Spanish-language urban music with US hip-hop and trap: back in June, Anuel AA was featured in Gucci Mane’s “Special”, after teaming up with Drake in 2018.
