First Lady of house Kym Mazelle will release her latest single, ‘A Place In My Heart’ by Crookers ft. Kym Mazelle, on 9th May.
‘A Place In My Heart’ will be Kym Mazelle’s second release on Defected Records, after David Morales Presents The Face’s ‘Lovin’, which also featured Mazelle on vocals last year.
Defected premiered the new single during a For The Love Of House mix on their Defected In The House radio station last week, after which they hailed Mazelle, quite rightly, as “one of the most famous voices in house music.”
Fans of classic house may recognise the single’s title, and indeed melody, because Crookers’ ‘A Place In My Heart’ is a fresh reworking of Kym Mazelle’s 1998 solo track of the same name.
The brand new Crookers version is much more subdued than Mazelle’s original, with a smooth, subtly funky beat and minimal instrumentation. This new background allows Mazelle’s soulful vocals to really stand out, and reveal an extra layer of sensitivity.
In line with all of Kym’s recent releases, ‘A Place In My Heart’ solidifies the singer’s position as a house legend. Listen out for ‘A Place In My Heart’ in the clubs, and download the single for yourself from May 9th.
