We welcome legendary hip hop icon Flavor Flav to the MN2S booking agency roster this week.
The rapper and multi-instrumentalist has had a long and exciting career, reaching several generations of fans through his work as a founding member of Public Enemy and his solo career.
Flav first found fame with the release of Public Enemy’s sophomore album, It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back in 1988. The album’s politically charged lyrics and innovative production gained universal praise from critics and fans alike.
More success followed with Public Enemy’s follow up, Fear Of A Black Planet. Darker in tone than its predecessor, both lyrically and sonically, the album was met with praise across the board once again. These albums stand out as two of the best socially conscious hip hop albums of the genre’s golden era.
When Rick Rubin first signed Public Enemy to Def Jam in 1986, it is said that he did not understand Flavor Flav’s role within the group. However, Flav went on to prove himself as a performer, developing a comical style that counterbalanced Public Enemy rapper Chuck D’s more serious edge.
Flav’s comical style was more than just musical. His oversized accessories, a large clock pendant in particular, have helped him reach iconic status.
In the mid 2000s, Flav had a hugely successful career as a star of reality TV with shows like Flavor of Love, in which women competed for the chance to date Flav.
Now reunited with his Public Enemy bandmates, with whom he just released the critically acclaimed Man Plans God Laughs in 2015, Flav is ready to bring his trademark energy to fans around the globe.
