Legendary Hip Hop group Public Enemy have surprise-released new album Nothing Is Quick in the Desert.
Public Enemy’s brand new studio album Nothing Is Quick in the Desert was quickly released via the group’s BandCamp on Thursday night. The album is available as a free download until the 4th July via this link.
Nothing Is Quick in the Desert comes after Public Enemy’s critically acclaimed 2015 album Man Plans God Laughs. With no hype and no buildup, Chuck D announced the album’s release via Twitter on Thursday afternoon, thanking fans for supporting the band in its 30th year. “This is on us,” he said, referring to the free album.

With Public Enemy’s trademark heavy instrumentation and hard-hitting lyrics throughout, Nothing Is Quick in the Desert includes uncredited appearances from Ice T, Daddy-O, and The Impossebulls among others.
The album, featuring the classic pairing of Chuck D and Flava Flav, was surprising not just due to its lack of fanfare, but because band members Chuck D and DJ Lord have been touring as part of the supergroup Prophets of Rage in recent months on the politically-charged ‘Make America Rage Again’ tour. NME hailed the band’s recent Brixton performance as possibly “the greatest gig of 2017.” Prophets of Rage features Chuck and Lord alongside members of Cypress Hill and Rage Against the Machine. Prophets are yet to release an album, but their website does tease new material. With this surprise release from Public Enemy, the next Chuck D project could be right around the corner.
