The organisers of Untold Festival and Neversea Festival are offering free one-day entry tickets for 2021 to COVID-19 survivors who have donated blood plasma, encouraging people to help with the effort to find a cure for Coronavirus.
The organisers of the festival also gave equipment such as flooring and lighting to the support the health service during the initial spread of the virus in April. The festivals have a capacity of 60,000 and 70,000 people, Untold Festival is recognised as Romania’s biggest dance festival. Untold, the company behind both events, says “the medical system is currently facing an acute shortage of blood, but also a very small number of plasma donations from former COVID-19 patients”.
Both festivals were cancelled in early June, along with many other festivals throughout the world in light of spread of the virus. Festivalgoers looked forward to seeing huge acts play at both festivals, namely David Guetta and the Pussycat Dolls were conformed for Untold while Black Eyed Peas and Passenger amongst other big named were set to perform at Neversea.
The initiative is aiming to encourage the people of Romania to donate blood plasma if they are in a position to do so, since the antibodies found in the blood plasma of former COVID-19 patients contains vital antibodies, these donations are vital to the fight of the virus. Additionally, blood donors will also receive the equivalent of 20 euros worth of supermarket vouchers to spend. Blood Network vans will be in Oradea and Targu Mures on the 29th and 30th August and Iasi, Sibiu and Bucharest on the 12th and 13th of September, for the use of people who are able to donate.
