Late Slum Village Founder J Dilla releases J Dilla's Delights

Legendary hip-hop producer and founding member of Slum Village J Dilla has released a brand new posthumous album, J Dilla’s Delights Volume 1.

J Dilla tragically passed away in 2006, at the height of his powers as a producer. He left behind an outstanding body of work, with Slum Village, with other artists and on his own. Since his untimely death it has become clear that his officially released work was only the tip of the iceberg, as thousands of unreleased instrumental tracks and beats have been released posthumously.

J Dilla’s Delights Volume 1 is the latest addition to the Jay Dee cannon. The album features 24 previously unheard instrumental tracks which were specially reserved for his daughters Ja’Mya Yancey and Ty-Monae Whitlow, with the proceeds going straight to them.

It’s not clear exactly when these beats were made, but they include all the spark and magic that made Slum Village’s early, J Dilla-produced work so delightful.

Slum Village have been active themselves, with member Young RJ releasing the mournful solo single ‘Issues’ featuring BJ The Chicago Kid. Listen to that track below:
