Wyclef Jean releases 'I Swear' feat. Young Thug | News | MN2S

Wyclef Jean has released his latest single: party-friendly dancehall track ‘I Swear’ featuring rapper Young Thug.

Wyclef Jean’s latest single ‘I Swear’ draws on the dancehall with infectious hooks, tropical vibes and foghorns. The song certainly has what it takes to follow 2016’s other hit dancehall tunes like Rihanna’s ‘Work’ to the top of the charts.

‘I Swear’ features guest verses by Atlanta rapper Young Thug, making this the pair’s second collaboration of the year. The first was on the track ‘Kanye West’ from Thugger’s most recent mixtape Jeffrey. (Perhaps confusingly, the mixtape also features a song named ‘Wyclef Jean’ with no Jean involvement.)

Wyclef Jean has promised ‘I Swear’ will be included on his next major project J’ouvert, tentatively slated for release later this year. The project will also feature Wyclef’s zeitgeist-capturing track ‘If I Was President 2016’, to which Jean brings a unique understanding, as he ran for president himself in 2010, albeit of Haiti.

The timely update to his 2008 track ‘If I Was President’ came with a hilarious music video in which Wyclef donned makeup to play potential future presidents Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump and (somehow) Bernie Sanders. No word yet on whether ‘I Swear’ will have a video, and whether that video will feature as many wigs.
