Rapidly rising hip-hop artist DaBaby has inked a deal with major record label Interscope.
The move tops off an impressive list of recent achievements for the Charlotte native, who rounded up 2018 with the release of a hugely popular mixtape Blank Blank. Speaking to Billboard about his meteoric rise, the ever-confident DaBaby has said: “I want to get where Drake and them are at. I’m competing with the big names.”

DaBaby has swiftly become one of America’s most talked-about rappers, with his YouTube videos picking up multiple millions of views within months of their release. The absurdly comic video for Walker Texas Ranger was posted on New Year’s Day, and has already picked up over 3 million views and counting. He’s reportedly putting the finishing touches on a hotly-anticipated debut album, scheduled for release in 2019. Baby on Baby is said to feature contributions from a host of next-gen rappers including Rich The Kid, Offset, Lil Durk, YG and Famous Dex.
DaBaby has become famous in American hip-hop for his crazy antics and viral videos – the rapper turned heads in 2017 by walking around Texas festival SXSW in nothing but a diaper. Until recently, another talking point was his controversial name – prior to 2017, DaBaby was known as Baby Jesus.
Speaking with Billboard Magazine about his recent record deal, DaBaby said: “It was a joint venture deal with South Coast Music Group and Interscope. We were blessed enough to get a real good deal done. They’re giving me way more creative control than artists get from other record labels. They really just want me to do me, and change nothing. That’s the perfect fit for us.”
