MN2S PR are excited to welcome a new act to their roster: Rebel Dent.
Rebel Dent, a duo from Sydney writing music they describe as “soul tech”, are forging a new sound from inspiration drawn from classic dance music. When producer Arthur ‘Dr Dent’ Giannelis and vocalist Rebecca Burgin met at a post-lockdown party in Maroubra, New South Wales, in 2021, they had an instant connection despite coming from quite different backgrounds — and eras. Another lockdown followed, allowing them to begin work on their debut album, Together We Are Stronger, which is set to be released at the end of 2022. Their new single, Together We Are Stronger, is scheduled for release on 6th June.
Dr. Dent grew up in Australia, surrounded by exotic music and instruments, as the son of a famous Greek musician. He travelled to Europe in the early 1990s, when he spent time with Sasha, a pioneering British house DJ, and became enamoured with phat beats and strong basslines. He returned to Australia laden with deep-cut vinyl and quickly established himself as a pioneer of the Australian hip house culture.
Burgin, on the other hand, was a boarding-school student and classically trained singer who grew up listening to Doris Day musicals while growing up in Sydney. She, too, travelled to Europe in 2001 and began to showcase her soulful melodic and vocal abilities. She and producer Richard Earnshaw recorded a white-label 12″ called ‘Everybody Get On Your Feet’ in 2002 under the name Bubkiss.
