New Signing: Beautiful Terrible Things | News | PR | MN2S

Our PR team are pleased to welcome Beautiful Terrible Things to the roster. The group are a creative force to be reckoned with, moving confidently between genres as each style they experiment in is imbued with a uniquely vibrant and colourful musical personality.

Their latest release, “The Wyndx EP”, features three tracks from their forthcoming full-length project Songs for the Monochromatic, scheduled for release in April. An eclectic collection of sounds made up of three distinctive songs that each showcase a different musical perspective, “The Wyndx EP” colours in the monochrome conventions of pop music with wild ideas and boundless energy, building on the foundations of pop to produce something that’s so much more.

”The Wyndx EP” is out now on all streaming platforms.

An international duo with connections on both sides of the Atlantic, Beautiful Terrible Things is made up of British musician and producer Oliver Mossop and US-based vocalist and producer Ian Grant. Both members have an established background in the music industry, having self-produced and independently released their own creative projects while working in music production and sound engineering. After a chance meeting in 2017, the pair decided to join forces and fuse their wealth of talent and experience to form the creative powerhouse that is Beautiful Terrible Things.

Songs for the Monochromatic was inspired by self-discovery and a resultant realisation experienced through music.

Opening up with lead single “GDM”, Beautiful Terrible Things fly out of the gate with a relentlessly rhythmic slice of electro-funk that recalls legends such as Prince while sharing a vision with contemporaries such as Jungle, The Internet and Chromeo. Layering irresistibly catchy melodies above a mighty synth bassline, the duo put their instrumental chops on display with a euphoric guitar solo that rounds off what’s sure to be one of this summer’s hottest new singles, with an accompanying video scheduled for release in March.

BTT follow this up with a left turn into new territory, as “PGLS” presents their unique take on hip-hop. Dusty drum samples and atmospheric synthscapes create a fitting backdrop for Ian Grant’s effortless rhymes, as he proves himself a talented rapper with a flow that’s reminiscent of golden-era greats from Jurassic 5 to A Tribe Called Quest. BTT fuse imaginative production and fresh lyricism to create hip-hop that takes cues from legends of the genre while staying true to their boldly original vision.

The EP closes with another surprising leap into a new style, as BTT demonstrate their impressive ability to break the boundaries of genre and experiment with a spectrum of musical colours. Title track “WYNDX” is angular, electrifying synth-pop that layers dynamite hooks, transcendent harmonies and insistent rhythms to stunning effect: once again pushing their sound in a new direction, the track retains the unmistakable dynamism and high-voltage energy that stands out as the common thread between each of the EP’s three parts.

“This album, start to finish, is audible colour meant to break people out of that monotonous grey zone!”

Beautiful Terrible Things’ latest EP features three tracks from their forthcoming full-length project, Songs for the Monochromatic. This album signals the beginning of a new era for the duo, and acts as a musical mission statement: they’ve stated that the record is intended to represent their take on human experience, as the vibrant colours of their eclectic sound help those living life in black and white break out into joyful technicolour.

The new album Songs for the Monochromatic is scheduled for release on April 20th 2021.
