Australian guitarist and singer-songwriter Orianthi and legendary drummer Jonathan Moffett – two iconic musicians known for working with Michael Jackson – performed at Riyadh’s 2025 Joy Awards this week. Performing a four-song medley of Michael Jackson songs, the pair honoured the memory of the late Quincy Jones, who attended the awards last year. The Joy Awards ceremony, held at Saudi Arabia’s capital Riyadh, celebrates the best in Arabic music, film, television, sports and other media. Organised by Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, in partnership with the MBC group, this year’s event was the fifth of its kind. Also attending the Joy Awards 2025 were Mark Wahlberg, John Cena, Tyson Fury, and Sam Worthington. Honorary Awards were presented to Kevin Costner, Quincy Jones and Sir Anthony Hopkins, among others.

Orianthi Panagaris, an Australian guitarist, singer, and songwriter, is celebrated for her genre-blending style and extraordinary skill. Handpicked by Michael Jackson as lead guitarist for his This Is It tour, she gained worldwide attention for her electrifying performances and precision. Orianthi has also collaborated with Alice Cooper and Carlos Santana, further cementing her reputation. Her breakout single, “According to You,” showcased her talent and launched her as a force in modern rock. Jonathan “Sugarfoot” Moffett, an iconic drummer and songwriter, is best known for his work with Michael Jackson as the principal drummer on the Victory and Bad tours, as well as the planned This Is It shows. His powerful yet precise drumming has also backed legends like Madonna, Elton John, and George Michael.
