The former N-Dubz star is set to make a welcome return to the British charts with a provocative new single.
Tula ‘Tulisa’ Contostavlos rose to fame as one third of the chart-smashing urban-pop trio N-Dubz, working on two platinum-selling albums, picking up 4 MOBO Awards and selling over 4 million records before landing a slot judging on X Factor and reaching No 1 as a solo artist with her iconic single ‘Young’. N-Dubz were one of the most commercially successful acts of their time, working with Skepta and Chipmunk while bringing Tinie Tempah on tour: many have claimed that they helped pave the way for urban music to enter the charts, influencing generations of later artists and changing the face of British pop music forever.
Tulisa is back with a new single: ‘Daddy’ was released Friday 5th April.
After signing a new record deal with Xploded Music (home to Armin Van Buuren and Loud Luxury) Tulisa wrote and produced her latest single alongside noted collaborator David Lucius King. The track has already generated a huge buzz online, with fans and critics declaring it as one of her finest yet: a fiery urban-pop torpedo that showcases her inimitable vocal talent and unabashedly bold attitude.
Speaking about her return to music, Tulisa has said: “I took some time out of the spotlight to refocus on what is important to me, and that’s music. I’ve spent a lot of time in the studio writing and recording new music, and now I have many new tracks ready to go.”
“For me it’s not about chasing celebrity or chart positions. It’s all about putting out music that I love and is true to myself. These songs are a return to my roots.”
