Toronto-based alt-hip-hop trio bloom join the PR roster ahead of the release of their debut single, “No Good Thoughts”.
After coming together as a trio in November 2018, bloom have spent the past year fervently writing and recording. Initially planning to release an EP, the group’s chemistry allowed them to amass a large number of demos in a short amount of time. They soon linked up with esteemed Toronto engineer Dominic “Dot” Okune and collectively decided to release these tracks as an album.
Taking inspiration from a wide variety of artists includingJuice WRLD, Post Malone and The Weeknd, the members of bloom – JacksonCourtnall, Noah Levine, and Christopher Giannaris – create music that blurs thelines between hip-hop, RnB, emo and indie. The group fuse their individualbackgrounds to forge a sound that’s more than the sum of its parts, with Jacksonhandling the bulk of production, Noah providing lyrics and vocals, and Chrisbringing unique guitar contributions that draw from a 90s grunge influence. Theresult is a boldly vulnerable sound that is fresh and exciting but suffusedwith poignance and emotion.
The group’s forward-thinking yet approachable style is evident after just one listen to their material, and is sure to take them far in the industry. With the release of debut single “no good thoughts” imminently approaching, and their debut album slated for release not long after that, bloom are a group to keep an eye on in 2020.
