Pop superstar Jamelia Davis discusses her role as Kellogg’s Breakfast Club Awards Ambassador.

Vocalist and ‘Loose Women’ presenter Jamelia Davis has headed back to school this year to launch this year’s Kellogg’s Breakfast Club Awards. Davis joined schoolchildren at Stockport’s St. Bernadette’s Primary School for a healthy and nutritious breakfast as they started the new school year. Showing her support for the initiative, she recounted her own experiences attending a breakfast club at school and talked about the many benefits that these clubs provide.

“Growing up my school breakfast club was a key part of our family life and was a great for growing my confidence as a child. My mother was a single, working parent so breakfast club provided support and enabled her to go back to work – while ensuring I had the best start to the day.”

‘‘It is fantastic to be launching the Kellogg’s Breakfast club awards, an event dedicated to celebrating the wonderful and inspiring work that goes on in breakfast clubs up and down the country.”

The program celebrates and rewards the dedication and hard work that goes into running a great Breakfast Club while spreading awareness of their importance, and the importance of a nutritious breakfast: “Breakfast clubs provide so many benefits, from improved attendance and attainment to tackling hunger in the morning and providing pre-school care.”

In addition to her many talents as a pop star and performer, Jamelia is a loving mother of three, living with her family in Birmingham.

Schools throughout the UK and Northern Ireland are invited to enter for the chance to win a £1000 prize, with one cash prize given to a winning school from each region and a Grand Winner receiving an additional £1000. Any school or breakfast club can enter the awards. The lucky winners will also be invited to attend an exclusive awards ceremony at the Houses of Parliament on Tuesday 27th November 2018.

“This year marks 20 years of Kellogg’s supporting breakfast clubs, so the awards is going to be extra special. I urge school breakfast clubs to get their entries in now – we can’t wait to hear all about your amazing clubs!”

A specially selected panel of judges will review the entries and winners will be announced on Monday 29th October 2018.
