Katie Piper has a new midwifery campaign | News | MN2S

Make Sure to Thank your Midwife a New Campaign by MN2S Artist Katie Piper.

Midwifery is one of the most crucial careers out there – but for many new parents, the blur of delivery and meeting a new child can mean that the midwife is forgotten as soon as the baby is delivered. Now MN2S star Katie Piper is asking new parents to think twice and make sure to thank their midwives, on behalf of Pampers.

There are more than 40,000 midwives in the UK and it’s a campaign that’s particularly relevant to Piper, who was pregnant whilst filming was taking place. She has now delivered a healthy baby girl, her second with husband Richard Sutton.

Her first daughter, Belle Elizabeth is now three years old and Katie recalled for Pampers how critical midwives were in reassuring her prior to her first delivery. She said: “It’s so important to say thank you to our midwives. I had such a nurturing team of midwives looking after me with my first little girl, and their support gave me so much confidence as a mother. I want to say thank you to them all as no question was ever too silly or request too much.

“I am far less anxious ahead of my second child and am already working with a great midwife team in preparation for a Christmas baby.”

Katie Piper rose to national attention after becoming the victim of a vicious acid attack. A former boyfriend had hired another man to follow her and throw strong sulphuric acid in her face on a London road. Katie was badly burned, losing her eyelids, part of her nose and part of her ear as well as extensive injury to her face and neck.

Since then she’s had an extensive series of surgeries and continues to go under the knife on a regular basis. Skin grafts have helped with much of the scarring, but the attack left Piper blind in one eye.

Her inspirational reaction to the circumstances; setting up a charity and campaigning for more first aid training for the general public, allowing them to react quickly to incidents such as her own – has made her a real role model. She’s a regular TV presenter and embarks on a solo tour telling her story next year.
