Breathe Carolina

Breathe Carolina originated in Denver, Colorado, in 2007, founded by David Schmitt and Kyle Even. Their initial approach involved recording music using GarageBand, which quickly gained traction on MySpace. Their debut studio album, “It’s Classy, Not Classic,” released on September 16, 2008, reached No. 186 on the Billboard 200. This early success was built on a blend of electropop, emo, and dance music, often incorporating post-hardcore influences. The band’s early touring included appearances at events such as the Bamboozle Left in April 2008 and supporting Pierce the Veil on “The Delicious Tour” later that year.

In 2009, Breathe Carolina signed with Fearless Records and released their second studio album, “Hello Fascination,” which peaked at No. 43 on the Billboard 200. Their third album, “Hell Is What You Make It,” released in 2011, featured the single “Blackout,” which achieved significant commercial success, peaking at No. 32 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earning platinum certification in the US. The band expanded to include additional members for live performances, embracing a full-band sound while maintaining their electronic core. In 2013, Kyle Even departed, and Tommy Cooperman joined, solidifying the duo’s current lineup and shifting their focus further into electronic dance music.

Their evolution continued with the 2014 album “Savages,” which topped the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums chart and reached No. 22 on the Billboard 200. Subsequent years saw the release of several EPs, including “Sleepless” (2016), “Oh So Hard” (2016), and “Coma” (2017). The duo released their fifth studio album, “Dead: The Album,” in 2019, which charted at No. 6 on the Billboard Dance Album Sales chart. They have also engaged in extensive remixing work for various artists and continued with numerous single releases, demonstrating their adaptability and consistent presence in the electronic music landscape.
