Joyce Muniz launched her career as a resident DJ and MC at Vienna’s Flex club in the early 2000s, initially focusing on drum & bass. Her work soon expanded to include vocal performances, touring with artists such as Major Lazer, before shifting her focus to music production. Muniz marked her first event on Resident Advisor in 2007, solidifying her presence in the global electronic music community. She released music on influential labels including Exploited, Get Physical, Kompakt, Permanent Vacation, International DJ Gigolo, and Pets.
Her debut album, ‘Made in Vienna,’ was released on Exploited in 2016. Her second album, ‘Zeitkapsel,’ released in 2023, showcased her broad sonic palette. The album featured diverse tracks such as ‘Never Brushing The Sound’ with Le3 bLACK, which drew from trip-hop and downtempo influences. ‘Bangalore Girl,’ supported by DJ Marky, referenced her drum & bass origins, while ‘Imagine’ with Roland Clark reflected her affinity for house music.
The album also included ‘Arrivederci Bella,’ an electro-house track where she rapped in Portuguese. Muniz also hosts a show on national Austrian radio station FM4 and has served as a workshop host for Native Instruments, sharing her technical expertise. She has performed live with various orchestras in Germany as part of the Synth Live project, being the first woman to participate. Throughout her career, Muniz has toured internationally, playing across continents, and performs weekly in Europe, with frequent visits to America and Brazil, where she was featured on the cover of Mixmag.
Muniz continues to be a dynamic force in the global electronic music landscape, cementing her status as a versatile DJ, innovative producer, respected radio host, and dedicated music educator.
