Dead Poet Society has established itself as an American rock band known for its distinctive blend of heavy indie rock and ‘djent pop’. After cultivating a strong fan base through seven national tours of Mexico between 2016 and 2018, Dead Poet Society established their distinctive blend of heavy indie rock and ‘djent pop’. The band, comprised of Jack Underkofler (vocals, guitar), Jack Collins (guitar), Nick Taylor (bass guitar), and Will Goodroad (drums), developed their musical style while attending Berklee College of Music. Initially operating independently, they released EPs ‘Haviland’ and ‘Weapons’ in 2013, followed by ‘Axiom’ in 2015, and ‘Dempsey’ in 2016.
Their initial exposure in 2016 came after a review by Mexican blog Pepe Problemas, leading to an invitation to open for Sputnik on a national tour. Their presence in the U.S. rock scene solidified in 2019 when they opened for Andrés on a national tour, subsequently supporting Badflower. This period of increasing visibility led to a significant career progression in 2020 when Dead Poet Society signed with Spinefarm Records.
The album further showcased their signature sound, earning widespread acclaim. From ‘Fission’, the single ‘Running In Circles’ (2024) peaked on Mainstream Rock Airplay and Rock & Alternative Airplay, while ‘My Condition’ (2024) also achieved success, peaking on Alternative Airplay, underscoring the band’s continued ability to resonate across diverse rock formats. Dead Poet Society continues to expand its global reach through regular touring, performing at various venues and festivals. Most recently, Dead Poet Society collaborated with The Warning on the single ‘HURT,’ released in 2025.
This collaboration proved to be a significant success, with ‘HURT’ peaking on Mainstream Rock Airplay, Hot Hard Rock Songs, and Rock & Alternative Airplay, further cementing Dead Poet Society’s position as a prominent force in contemporary rock music.
