From an MTV VJ to an actor celebrated for his work in the 'Scary Movie' franchise, Simon Rex, known also as Dirt Nasty, has forged a distinctive path in entertainment, culminating in a critically acclaimed lead role in 'Red Rocket'.
Simon Rex was part of Myspace Records, indicating a recording contract or partnership for his music releases under his Dirt Nasty persona.
Rex was an investor in 'The Plumm', a New York City nightclub launched in 2006 alongside partners such as Noel Ashman and Samantha Ronson. The nightclub operated until 2009.

Simon Rex Cutright, publicly known as Simon Rex and by his stage name Dirt Nasty, was born on July 20, 1974, in San Francisco, California, and raised in Alameda. His early career saw him work as a model for brands such as Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein Inc, Versace, and Levi’s in 1994. In 1995, Rex became an MTV VJ, a role he held for over two years, introducing him to a wider audience.
Transitioning into acting, Rex appeared in the comedy-drama television series ‘Jack & Jill’ from 1999 to 2001 and played a main role in the sitcom ‘What I Like About You’ from 2002 to 2003. His film roles include multiple entries in the ‘Scary Movie’ franchise, specifically ‘Scary Movie 3’ (2003), ‘Scary Movie 4’ (2006), and ‘Scary Movie 5’ (2013). In 2005, Rex entered the music industry, adopting his rap alter ego Dirt Nasty. He formed the rap group Dyslexic Speedreaders and released his self-titled debut album ‘Dirt Nasty’ in 2007. His musical endeavors continued with albums such as ‘Nasty as I Wanna Be’ (2011) and ‘Palatial’ (2013), and he was part of the supergroup Three Loco.
A significant turning point in Rex’s career occurred in 2021 when he received critical acclaim for his lead role in Sean Baker’s drama film ‘Red Rocket’. This performance earned him the Independent Spirit Award for Best Male Lead and marked a resurgence in his acting career. Following this, he signed with Range Media Partners in October 2021 and took on roles in films like ‘Mack & Rita’ (2022) and ‘Down Low’ (2023). In 2023, he co-founded the skincare brand MOX, actively promoting its products through his social media and interviews.
