Charlotte Sarah Lawrence was born on June 8, 2000, in Los Angeles, California. She grew up in a creative household; her father, Bill Lawrence, is a television producer, and her mother, Christa Miller, is an actress. Despite her parents not having musical backgrounds, she was exposed to a diverse range of artists like Joni Mitchell and Elliott Smith early on through her mother’s interest in music. Lawrence began piano lessons at the age of five, developing a foundation in classical training while also engaging with pop music. Her artistic journey continued through her high school years at Marymount High School in Los Angeles, where she was also active in sports, participating in volleyball and basketball.
Lawrence officially began her music career in 2014, gaining early recognition. In March 2018, she was featured on Kaskade’s single “Cold as Stone,” which provided her with wider exposure. This was followed by the release of her debut EP, *Young*, in June 2018. The EP showcased her emerging sound and attracted significant attention. In 2019, she signed with Atlantic Records, a major milestone in her career, and released her debut single with the label, “Why Do You Love Me.” Her profile further increased in 2020 when her song “Joke’s on You” was included on the soundtrack for the DC Comics film *Birds of Prey*.
Throughout 2020, Lawrence continued to release digital singles, building anticipation for her subsequent projects. Her second EP, *Charlotte*, was released on March 5, 2021, and featured collaborations that further honed her unique style. Following this, she released “Morning,” a song produced by Ben Gibbard of Death Cab and Andy Park, underscoring her evolving artistic connections. In 2024, Lawrence expanded her career into acting, joining the cast of the drama TV series *Bad Monkey* in a recurring role. On February 28, 2024, she released the single “Dog.” Lawrence’s debut studio album, *Somewhere*, was released on June 27, 2025, with “Us Three” serving as the final single from the album. As a model, she is signed to IMG Models, and has appeared in publications such as *Teen Vogue* and *Harper’s Bazaar*, further diversifying her public image and reach.
