DJ Scratch

DJ Scratch is a decorated hip-hop DJ and producer, recognized for his significant contributions to influential albums and his consistent accolades as a premier turntablist. After winning the New Music Seminar Battle For World Supremacy DJ championship in 1988, DJ Scratch went on to establish himself as a premier turntablist and influential hip-hop producer. His career, which began in 1985, saw a significant turning point when he was introduced to EPMD by Jam Master Jay. DJ Scratch subsequently became EPMD’s official DJ, contributing his distinct cutting and scratching techniques to their sound, notably featured on their 1989 album Unfinished Business.

Beyond the recording studio, DJ Scratch showcased his versatility as a resident DJ for television shows such as Hip Hop Hold Em’, Fox 5’s Uptown Comedy Club, and B.E.T.’s Rap City: The Basement. Throughout his illustrious career, DJ Scratch has consistently received accolades for his exceptional turntablism. He was crowned the Master of the Mix competition winner in 2010 and received the Global Spin Awards’ ‘Turntablist of the Year’ honor for three consecutive years in 2012, 2013, and 2014. His production work has also garnered Grammy nominations for artists like Busta Rhymes and The Roots.

His ongoing contributions maintain his influential presence across live performance, production, and broadcast.
