Samuel Shepherd, known professionally as Floating Points, is a distinguished British electronic music producer, DJ, and musician whose innovative contributions have significantly shaped the contemporary music landscape. As the founder of Pluto Records and co-founder of Eglo Records, he has been instrumental in promoting a diverse range of artists, including his own acclaimed work. His label, Eglo Records, has released music from notable talents such as Fatima and Funkineven, showcasing his commitment to nurturing emerging voices in the industry.

Shepherd’s career took a remarkable turn with the formation of the Floating Points Ensemble, a 16-piece group that garnered critical acclaim for their live performances. In 2015, he released his debut album, “Elaenia,” which received universal acclaim, evidenced by its impressive Metacritic score of 85. This success was complemented by sold-out shows across the globe, solidifying his reputation as a captivating live performer.

In 2021, Shepherd collaborated with legendary saxophonist Pharoah Sanders and the London Symphony Orchestra to produce the album “Promises,” which was nominated for the Mercury Prize and reached the top of the UK Vinyl Albums Chart. This project exemplified his ability to blend electronic and orchestral elements, further expanding his artistic horizons.

Continuing to push boundaries, Shepherd composed an original score for the ballet “Mere Mortals,” which premiered in January 2024. His work reflects a deep understanding of sound and its emotional impact, making him a pivotal figure in modern music.
