Andrew VanWyngarden, known as Gentle Dom, has built a solo career as an electronic and house music artist, alongside his main project MGMT. After co-founding MGMT and earning two Grammy nominationsone for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals for the hit song ‘Kids,’ and another for Best New ArtistAndrew VanWyngarden also established a prolific solo career as the electronic and house music artist Gentle Dom. Instrumental in forming MGMT with Ben Goldwasser while at Wesleyan University, VanWyngarden contributed significantly to the bands songwriting, including lyrics for their acclaimed albums. His contributions were further recognized with a placement on NME’s Cool List in 2008, and he conceived the title for MGMTs 2010 album, ‘Congratulations.’ Prior to MGMT’s formation, VanWyngarden’s early musical endeavors included forming the bands Glitter Penis and Accidental Mersh during high school, with Accidental Mersh releasing two albums and gaining local recognition.
VanWyngarden maintains an active presence, performing as Gentle Dom while continuing his work with MGMT, consistently expanding his artistic footprint across both projects.
