Thomas Reichold, known professionally as Tom Novy, was born on March 10, 1970, in Kaufbeuren, Germany. His career began in Munich, where he spent his youth and attended the Luitpold Gymnasium. In the mid-1980s, Novy started working as a DJ, securing his first residency at the Babalu Club, which marked the beginning of his professional involvement in the music industry.
Novy entered music production in 1994, signing with Kosmo Records, a Munich-based label. His debut record, “I House U,” was a cover of the Jungle Brothers’ “I’ll House You,” featuring lyrics by Novy. Initially, his original compositions were in the progressive house subgenre. Over time, Novy shifted his sound towards Chicago-style garage house, often incorporating vocal elements into his tracks. His musical evolution contributed to his sustained presence in electronic music.
Throughout his career, Novy expanded his presence beyond DJing and production by hosting several music-focused television shows. He appeared on MTV Germany, hosting programs such as ‘Dance Floor Charts,’ ‘Streetlife,’ ‘Battle of DJ’s,’ and ‘Nightlife.’ He also hosted shows on VIVA, another German television channel. These roles contributed to his public profile and provided additional platforms for his engagement with music and the music scene.
