Victor Calderone

Born on March 20, 1967, in Brooklyn, New York, Victor Calderone was introduced to New York City’s nightlife at 15 by his older brother, Cesar, who was involved in the club music business. He began experimenting with turntables and DJ equipment during his teenage years. In 1991, Victor Calderone and his partner Gene LaFosse, working as the techno act Program 2, signed a contract deal with Sire Records by music mogul Seymour Stein. After releasing their first album, the group disbanded, and Calderone temporarily stepped away from the music industry. He later returned to music, releasing his first solo record, “Give It Up.”

Calderone’s career progressed with residencies at notable clubs such as the Roxy in New York and Liquid in Miami Beach. In 1998, he started a professional relationship with Madonna, who commissioned him to remix “Frozen,” the first single from her album “Ray of Light.” This collaboration led to Calderone remixing eleven other singles for Madonna, including “Ray of Light,” “Sky Fits Heaven,” and “Music.” Following Madonna’s recommendation, Sting chose Calderone to remix his song “Desert Rose” in 1999, with Sting re-recording vocals for the remixed version. This track spent 80 weeks on the Billboard dance chart, with nine consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Hot Dance Music/Maxi-Singles Sales chart.

Beyond these collaborations, Calderone has remixed for various artists, including Gloria Estefan, Beyoncé Knowles, Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson, and Sarah Brightman. He also formed The Collaboration with Peter Rauhofer, releasing a multi-CD set and several hit singles. In 2005, Calderone launched his Evolve brand, consolidating his global residencies in cities like Montreal, Tel Aviv, and Bulgaria, alongside a monthly residency at Pacha in New York. This brand became known for its sets that integrated diverse musical elements.
