Puerto Rico Alexis Y Fido, known as 'Los Reyes del Perreo,' have established themselves as enduring figures in the reggaeton genre with a career spanning over two decades, marked by hit songs, world tours, and millions of streams.

Alexis y Fido have a long-standing history with Wisin & Yandel, appearing on their album 'De Otra Manera' and both Wisin and Yandel's subsequent solo albums. Wisin also suggested their initial collaboration as a duo for the album 'Desafío'.

Raúl Alexis Ortiz Rolón, born August 5, 1979, and Joel Fido Martínez, born August 13, 1978, both hail from Cayey, Puerto Rico. They began their individual musical pursuits in the reggaeton underground scene during the late 1990s. Alexis initially formed a quartet called Boricua Selecta with his younger brother Small, Wisin, and DJ Cell Darkitek. Fido, a childhood friend of Yandel, also formed a group with Yandel, crafting songs and honing their skills on mixtapes. The competitive nature of the early scene led both artists to temporary breaks; Alexis moved to Pennsylvania, and Fido enlisted in the Army. They reunited in Cayey later, finding their former associates, Wisin & Yandel, gaining recognition.
Alexis Y Fido officially teamed up as a duo for the album “Desafío,” a collaboration suggested by Wisin due to tracklist limitations. This marked a turning point, leading to appearances on major projects like “Grayskull II,” “La Mision III,” and Yandel’s solo album “Quien Contra Mi.” Their debut album, “The Pitbulls,” released in 2005, reached number one on the Top Latin Albums chart and achieved gold status worldwide. The duo gained further recognition with singles like “5 Letras,” “Mala Conducta,” and “El Tiburón.” Throughout their career, they have released eight studio albums, embarked on multiple world tours, and accumulated hundreds of millions of streams. They are known for their distinct sound, often referred to as “the kings of perreo,” and their ability to blend commercial appeal with raw reggaeton.
Despite being recognized for consistency and hit-making, they have often cited challenges with label support and industry recognition, leading them to ultimately pursue independence. Their enduring partnership is a notable aspect of their career, maintaining a collaborative dream despite creative differences or industry pressures. In November 2024, they celebrated their 20th anniversary as a duo with a sold-out show at El Choliseo, acknowledging their journey and continued impact on the reggaeton landscape. They have also explored collaborations with newer artists like Rauw Alejandro and previously with Bad Bunny and Noriel, adapting while staying true to their core style.
