Allison is a dynamic Mexican rock band that originated in Mexico City in 2002, founded by Erik “Erik” Canales and Manuel “Manolin” Avila. The duo, who had previously pursued individual musical projects, decided to collaborate and create Allison, a name inspired by a poem about love. Their early performances in local venues quickly garnered a dedicated fanbase, prompting them to prioritize their music career over their education.
In 2003, the band partnered with manager Paco Zepeda, leading to a significant breakthrough when they signed with Sony/BMG. Their debut album, recorded between December 2005 and February 2006, was a commercial success, selling over 300,000 copies in Mexico and achieving platinum certification. The album’s popularity was further amplified by a lucrative advertising contract with Doritos, showcasing their rising star power in the music industry.
Allison’s accolades include winning an MTV Latin American award for “Best New Artist-North” in 2006 and multiple nominations for prestigious music awards. Their second studio album, “Memorama,” released in 2008, marked their return after a brief hiatus due to a serious accident involving band members. Despite challenges, they continued to evolve, releasing their third album, “120 Km/hr,” in 2012 and establishing their own label, Nítido Records, in 2015.
The band has maintained a robust touring schedule, performing alongside renowned acts and participating in major music festivals. In 2022, they announced an international tour for 2023 and 2024, further solidifying their status as a prominent force in the Latin rock scene. With a commitment to their craft and a loyal fanbase, Allison continues to make significant contributions to the music industry.
